Frequently Asked Questions

We know how you feel.
You have realized your marriage is “off”. You know something needs to change, but you aren’t sure what.

We ourselves have dealt with deep-rooted issues that made us feel the way you’re feeling right now. These issues led us to examine, and ultimately change, the relational habits we had created — because getting our marriage in a better place was what was best for us, our kids, our community, and most of all: God.

Over the past 15 years, we have used those tools, and more, to help other couples learn the habits and skills to grow into a marriage where they find joy and have fun together.

What does this mean?
1. We have done the hard work to have a great marriage.
2. We have helped many other couples do the same.
3. We can help you, too.

We have beaten the statistical odds that say we should be divorced by now. We have been through multiple deployments with the military and fire service. We’ve survived multiple hospitalizations with our kids. We have gone through healing from miscarriage, chronic nightmares, a short season of going blind, and a move across the country. These are only a few of the life experiences we have had to work through. The world tells us, with all of these experiences, the odds are stacked against us. We are here to tell you that you can defy the odds and create a marriage that THRIVES!

Over the years, we led marriage classes and developed a curriculum that was used by our church for more than a decade. Bobby and I also hosted and facilitated a marriage-focused small group, launched a marriage mentoring program, and organized church-wide date nights to bring couples closer together. We have also walked many couples through a one-on-one pre-marital program to prepare for marriage. Serving alongside each other in this ministry has been one of our greatest joys.

—————

We know your marriage challenges feel overwhelming and perhaps isolating. We’re here to tell you that they are not that unique. There are a lot of couples out there struggling with similar issues, and instead of just becoming another statistic or suffering through a marriage, we want to help you not only beat the odds but also flourish in the beautiful gift of marriage.

We have been working with couples for over 15 years. Here is an abbreviated list of the marriage challenges we have helped couples to work through:

  • Communication struggles

  • Tension in a marriage

  • Defensiveness

  • Anger

  • Intimacy struggles

  • Lying and trust issues

  • Evasiveness

  • Different goals

  • Parenting challenges

  • Selfishness

  • Lack of support for each other

  • Unforgiveness

  • Infidelity

How do I know that you can understand and handle my marriage challenges?

Do we work with individuals?

We feel God has called us to work with married couples, as a married couple. This is why we do not work with individuals.

Our goal is for your marriage to thrive with God at the center. Our sessions will be the four of us: both of you and both of us.

Who we work with?

Our heart and our calling are to help couples honor God through their marriages. Because of that, we have made the personal choice to work specifically with committed Christian couples.

When we share the same foundation of faith, we are able to dive straight into the heart of things and begin the process of getting your marriage back on track that much sooner.

We feel strongly that Christians should have the best marriages (marriage was God's idea, after all), this is where we have unique strengths, and this is where our time is best spent. We also feel strongly that our calling is to help others to honor God with and through their marriages.

This is a win for all involved since we are working in our sweet spot to help you find your sweet spot in marriage again.

What is Marriage Coaching?

We define "marriage coaching" as a goal-oriented process in which a trained couple comes alongside you and your spouse to help you see what you have missed. We want to help you view your marriage through a clearer lens. Marriage coaching is relational; we share stories and experiences from our own lives and draw on our years of experience helping other couples.

During your first couple of sessions, we will help you create marriage goals. Sessions typically begin with a follow-up on what was discussed in the previous session and on the benefit to your marriage. Sometimes, we will help you work through a recent conflict or disagreement and walk you through how to move toward future resolution. We will help track what was helpful and celebrate those moments with you. We will continue working on your marriage goals and reassessing your progress along the way.

When you reach your marriage goals, we may decide collectively that you are done or reduce the frequency of our sessions together.

The most beautiful part of this process is seeing the two of you make progress and accomplish your goals together.

Since we are used to working with couples from all across America, we will conduct coaching sessions over Zoom video with very few exceptions.

How much does it cost? Do you take insurance?

We charge $100 per coaching hour (typically 50-55 minutes). We do not bill for these sessions until 24 hours before the session. This means if you add 5 appointments to our schedule, for example, you will NOT have to pay for those when you add them, only 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time.

You are likely contacting us about marriage coaching because nothing else you have tried has improved your situation, or because someone you know has told you about the life-changing work we do with couples.

If nothing else has worked, it may be time to get serious about making the changes needed to reconnect with your spouse, bring God to the center, and create and implement new habits that will help make your marriage thrive.

If you are coming from a referral then you know our work is capable of transforming your marriage. Every relationship we touch is a humble reminder of the work we are doing to honor God and his plan for us as Christian couples.

Although are sessions are 50 min, there are many hours of research, discussion, preparation, and prayer that are invested into each marriage between appointments. This ensures we are prepared for your session and have tools tools ready to make the most progress each time we meet.

INSURANCE:
We do not bill insurance companies, and we know that this will make it more difficult for some of you to make a decision about working with us. Many insurance companies will dictate what is allowed in sessions as well as the number of sessions. It is our job to get to know you well and to understand what is best for your marriage, not for that to be dictated by someone you will never meet at your insurance company.

Do you only meet with couples over Zoom?

Yes.

Since we are working with couples from all over the country, Zoom meetings (video) are the most convenient and consistent option. We are committed to making each session comfortable and engaging for all parties.

Below, you will find a Marriage Coaching Inquiry Form. Filling out this form will allow us to make sure that we are a good fit for each other.

Once we receive that form from you, we will typically get back to you in 2 days. If we are a good fit for each other, and have room on our coaching schedule we will send you a link to fill out a consent form, make an appointment on our online schedule, and to attach a credit card to that appointment for payment. Attaching your credit card means more time for us to work together because there is less time dealing with payment issues during the sessions.

It takes most couples less than 15 minutes to complete and submit the consent form and to make your first appointment with us
!

How can we get started?

If you are ready to connect with us and begin the process….
